Second Regional Consultation Meeting on IPR Enforcement

The Second IPR Enforcement Meeting was held in Manila, Philippines, from 29 to 30 October 2015. The meeting aimed at assisting the ASEAN Member States in implementing its enforcement initiative under the ASEAN IPR Action Plan, 2011- 2015, and was attended by the Enforcement Focal Points from the ASEAN Member States, the ECAP Project leader and the ECAP IP expert.

The regional meeting focussed on several subjects such as customs and border enforcement, online piracy, the need to facilitate data exchange among the ASEAN Member States may wish to consider in making enforcement-related data available to enforcement officials and rights holders in the fight against counterfeiting.

In addition it was the first activity co-organized with the International Trademark Association (INTA),  a good collaboration which provided the private sector perspective when it comes to IPRs enforcement.

This activity becomes very useful as improving the IPR enforcement environment in the ASEAN region benefits trademark and design owners not only from ASEAN also those from the EU.
