Joint ASEAN Consultation Meeting May 2016

A Joint ASEAN Trademark, Industrial Design and IT Consultation Meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 17 to 19 May 2016. The joint meeting was held back to back to the fifth meeting of the ASEAN Trademark Cooperation Task Force and in line with IT Missions.  The joint meeting was attended by members of the TM Task Force, senior Industrial Design experts, and senior IT representatives from the ASEAN IP Offices and the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as a member of the Cabinet of the Executive Director, European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the ECAP Project Leader, the ECAP IP Expert, and the ECAP IT Experts.

The objectives of the meeting were to follow up on the progress of the trademark-related initiatives supported by the ECAP Project and assist the TM Task Force in carrying out their mandate; share information and coordinate activities on industrial designs, including on ASEAN Designview; discuss IT-related regional issues, follow up on agreements and recommendations made during the Third IT Meeting held in November 2015.
