OCT 2014 – National Open Seminar GIs - BN

A national open seminar on the protection and promotion of geographical indications took place in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, on 4 October 2014.

This one-day seminar focused on strengthening the skills and knowledge of professionals involved in the development of GIs, both in the public and private sectors, to raise awareness on the GIs’ economic impact and, therefore, support the identification of potential GI products, as well as creating strengthened network for information sharing among stakeholders.

The seminar was conducted by an EU expert and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Law Society, local small and medium-sized enterprises as well as BruIPO officials.
