Consultation Meeting on ASEAN GI Protection Systems

A Consultation Meeting on GI Protection Systems in the ASEAN Countries was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on 21 May 2013, back to back with the Open Seminar on the Protection of ASEAN GIs in Existing and Potential Export Markets.

The meeting was attended by one expert on geographical indications from each ASEAN national IP Office, together with representatives of the EU Delegations to Thailand and Vietnam and the ECAP III Phase II Project Leader.

The answers to the GI questionnaire prepared in the framework of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2011-2015 initiative 11 and circulated by NOIP prior to the event, were revised and further discussed in order to both share experiences on the different GI protection systems and identify areas for improvement.
