ASEAN Trademark Consultation Meeting September 2014

An ASEAN Trademark Consultation Meeting was held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, from 1 to 4 September 2014. This event was hosted by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) through the Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BrulPO).

The meeting was held back to back to the first meeting of the ASEAN Trademark Cooperation Task Force, recently established by the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC), and was attended by members of the Task Force and other representatives from the ASEAN IP Offices, as well as by ASEC, OHIM and ECAP III Phase II.

This activity aimed at strengthening the capacity of trademark offices in the ASEAN countries to deliver quality registration services to the business community. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the ECAP activities in the field of trademarks and made recommendations regarding future steps in this respect. It also provided inputs for the Task Force discussions aimed at moving forward the trademark-related initiatives under the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2011-2015.
