ASEAN Regional Workshop on TM Substantive Examination

An ASEAN regional workshop on trade mark examination was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 24 to 27 November 2014. This event was hosted by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and attended by trademark and legal officers of all ASEAN Member States.

This activity aimed at providing specialised training to officials from the ASEAN Trademark Offices concerning substantive examination of trademarks, with a focus on the ASEAN Common Guidelines which the ASEAN Task Force for Trademark Cooperation recently endorsed.

The workshop was conducted by one EUIPO expert, the ECAP III Project Leader, the project IP expert and one expert from MyIPO. The four-day seminar included group exercises during which real examples were examined and the participants engaged in practical activities.
