ASEAN Consultation Meeting on IPR Enforcement

A Consultation Meeting on IPR Enforcement was held in Makati City, Philippines, on 21 October 2014. The meeting was attended by delegates from national IP Offices and law enforcement agencies from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, together with representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat and the ECAP III Project.

The meeting provided for a platform for the ASEAN Member States to review the current status of implementation and to define the way forward of Initiative 6 of the ASEAN Action Plan 2011-2015 concerning enforcement. The meeting also discussed the mechanism for collection and updating of enforcement-related data in ASEAN.

The ECAP Project Leader provided an overview of the EU Observatory against counterfeiting and piracy as well as introduced tools developed under the EUIPO Cooperation Fund that may be of interest to the ASEAN Initiative on IPR Enforcement, such as the Enforcement Database and the Anti-Counterfeiting Intelligence Support Tool (ACIST).
